Anastasia Steele: A Woman Transformed
Anastasia Steele’s character in Fifty Shades of Grey transforms in many ways throughout the novel, but one of the most noticeable and exciting transformations for readers (and eventual movie goers) is in her wardrobe.
Some women may be uneasy letting their boyfriend shop for them, but it seems Christian understands this dilemma and he employs a personal shopper for the majority of the clothing purchases. His body guard buys Anastasia’s first outfit, but from that point on, the personal shopper takes over. Anastasia, upon being presented a room of her own at Christian’s place, finds her closet full of designer gowns, business attire, shoes and accessories. Even her undergarments get a revamp and she is supplied the best that lingerie boutiques have to offer.
As Anastasia transforms form the shy college grad of that first meeting into Christian’s main squeeze, her entire attitude towards clothing changes. She finds it hard to accept all of the nice new outfits in the beginning, but they quickly are a part of her arsenal in the seduction of Christian. She learns how to “work” the clothes to her advantage, growing confident in her curves as she enjoys the rich fabrics and hugging hem lines. The indulgence and care with which Christian showers Anastasia Steele in fine clothing, jewels and lingerie is the stuff daydreams are made of. No expense is too much for the woman he loves and Anastasia Steele has the designer shoes to prove it. This is a true Hollywood transformation in all senses of the word, even if it does take place in Seattle.

Anastasia and Christian: A Hollywood Couple?
Even though Anastasia and Christian are fictional characters, if they were alive today, would their relationship be fodder for Hollywood tabloids? They definitely provide excitement for their hometown tabloids, but they undoubtedly resemble some of the Hollywood stars we know.
Anastasia and Christian are local celebrities in fictional Seattle, but fans of Fifty Shades of Grey can surely imagine them walking the streets of Hollywood amongst the stars, especially after the movie release. Christian’s stunning good looks and playboy status, multi-million dollar fortune and philanthropic work make him comparable to some of Hollywood’s well known actors. Anastasia’s small town charm, transformation from girl to woman, and librarian-style seductress looks are comparable to a few stars that have made it big.
One Hollywood couple that comes to mind when imagining Anastasia and Christian is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Despite the fact that Katie is much taller than Tom, their story and their looks are similar to Anastasia and Christian. Katie Holmes was a small time actress in her early years and her girl-next door good looks kept her from being viewed as a vamp in Hollywood’s eyes. Tom Cruise on the other hand has been a superstar for quite some time and has always been a charmer. His tousled, dark hair and glistening, mischievous eyes are quite similar to Christian’s. No one expected Katie and Tom to get together, but when they did it seemed to be a whirlwind romance. Sound familiar? Anastasia and Christian bear quite the resemblance to this Hollywood pair. The only question is…will Anastasia and Christian end as Katie and Tom recently did or will their fictional love last forever?
Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey are having a great time speculating about what actor will play Christian and who will fill the role of Anastasia. Their shoes will be hard to fill because so many fans already have a picture in their minds of the characters, but whoever the final choices are, their onscreen chemistry will have to take the backseat to the imagined couple of Anastasia and Christian walking the streets of Hollywood in all of their Fifty Shades glory.
